The Audi A3 is a premium C-segment compact; in China it is produced by the FAW-VW Audi joint venture and offered in two body styles: the A3L Limousine sedan with a wheelbase extended for the Chinese market (2680 mm) and the five-door A3 Sportback hatchback (wheelbase 2630 mm). It is the most affordable entry into the brand: a compact premium for urban buyers, with the Audi virtual cockpit digital instrument panel, LED lighting and a quality cabin. For the 2022-2023 model years the entire lineup is equipped with a single 35 TFSI engine - a 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline EA211 rated at 150 hp (110 kW) and 250 Nm, paired with a 7-speed "dry" DSG dual-clutch and front-wheel drive; importantly, the Chinese 35 TFSI of these years is specifically the 1.4T, whereas the European 35 TFSI is the 1.5T (the Chinese A3 switched to the 1.5T EA211 evo only in November 2024). All versions have exactly 150 hp, meaning they fit within the ≤160 hp threshold and pass the reduced recycling-fee rate in Russia for a private individual importing "for personal use." The main downside for the Chinese market is the absence of electrified versions (no PHEV/EV), but for parallel import this is a reliable gasoline premium compact.
