Toyota Crown皇冠

Crown is a saloon sold under the Japanese Toyota badge, but it was put together for the domestic Chinese market by FAW Toyota rather than shipped in ready-built from abroad.

The series stayed on the Chinese assembly line from 2005 to 2018, a long run for a single model line. After 2018 production stopped, and no new cars have been built under the name here since.

In market position it belongs to the business class, a step above the middle class. That bracket covers roomy saloons where quiet, ride comfort and rear-seat space come first; such cars are bought privately and also by companies, whose owners more often travel in the back than at the wheel. What is asked of them is an even ride and room, not pace.

Local assembly was the usual arrangement for Japanese marques of that period: the model kept its own name but left a Chinese plant. That is the form in which the series was present on the market for as long as it was built, and once building ended it could be found only among cars of earlier years.
