The Land Cruiser Prado is a large SUV wearing the Japanese Toyota badge, assembled for the Chinese market by FAW Toyota. Its powertrain is a hybrid, the combustion engine paired with an electric side.
All 15 versions share the same output of 207 kW, about 281 hp, and the same displacement of 2,393 cc, roughly 2.4 litres. The gearbox is automatic, with 8 speeds quoted for part of the range, and drive goes to all four wheels. The traction battery is small and differs by version, from 1.9 to 5.1 kWh.
Dimensions vary more than the hardware does: length from 4,915 to 5,085 mm, width from 1,940 to 1,980 mm and height from 1,925 to 1,935 mm, all on an unchanged 2,850 mm wheelbase. Cabins come with 5 or 6 seats, so one series covers rather different uses.
Production has run since 2004, making this one of the longest-lived series in the journal. Factory prices go from 449,800 to 559,800 yuan, and the gap between the two ends speaks of equipment rather than of the engine. Chinese sales over 12 months came to 19,872 cars. Emissions are certified to the China 6 standard, and all 15 versions are rated above the 117.68 kW mark.
