Toyota Coaster柯斯达

The Toyota Coaster carries 20 people: a minivan by body type, but closer to a small bus in size and capacity. It is assembled by FAW Toyota and goes to the domestic Chinese market.

The series has been in production since 2007. One combustion engine serves the entire line-up, displacing 3,956 cc, about 4.0 litres, and rated at 151 kW, roughly 205 hp. The layout is unusual for a passenger vehicle: the engine sits amidships and the rear axle is driven.

The dimensions explain why ordinary passenger-car categories fit this one only loosely: 7,005 mm long, 2,040 mm wide and 2,620 to 2,760 mm tall, the roof coming in more than one height. The wheelbase measures 3,935 mm.

Seven versions are listed, and factory prices are far apart, from 418,400 to 558,900 yuan. Emissions are certified to the China 5 standard. All 7 versions are rated above the 117.68 kW mark, and none falls below it. Vehicles of this capacity are normally bought for transport work, in company or tourist service, rather than by private owners.
