Tank 400 New Energy400新能源

The Tank 400 New Energy is a large SUV from Great Wall, built for the Chinese market since 2023. The entire range consists of plug-in hybrids; no version in it goes without a traction battery.

A single combustion engine serves the range, 1,998 cc or 2.0 litres. Output barely moves between versions, from 180 to 185 kW, about 245 to 252 hp. All four wheels are driven, and the transmission is automatic, with 9 speeds on part of the line-up. Emissions are certified to the China 6 standard.

The traction battery is where the versions genuinely part company, ranging from 36.7 to 59.1 kWh, while the mechanical hardware stays close throughout.

Dimensions drift a little from one version to the next: 4,964 to 4,985 mm long, 1,960 to 1,970 mm wide and 1,900 to 1,905 mm tall, all on the same 2,850 mm wheelbase. Seating is for five.

The price list holds 9 versions, from 279,800 to 319,800 yuan at factory prices. All of them are rated above the 117.68 kW mark, with none below. Chinese sales over the past 12 months reached 33,512 cars.
