The smart #5 is a mid-size SUV aimed at the Chinese market and on sale since 2024, though the marque itself is European. The range is a mixed one, with fully electric versions standing next to plug-in hybrids.

Outputs cover an unusually wide band, from 120 to 475 kW, roughly 163 to 646 hp. Hybrid versions add a combustion engine of 1,499 cc, about 1.5 litres. Drive is either rear, with the motor at the back, or all-wheel through two motors, and a single-speed reduction gear stands in for a gearbox. Emissions are certified to the China 6 standard.

Battery capacity runs from 20 to 100 kWh and the quoted electric range from 120 to 740 km. The lower figures in both spans belong to the hybrids, the upper ones to the electric versions.

Body dimensions shift slightly between versions: length is 4,705 mm throughout, width is either 1,920 or 1,945 mm, height ranges from 1,705 to 1,830 mm, and the wheelbase is 2,900 mm across the board. Seating is for five.

The price list holds 13 versions, with factory prices from 189,900 to 379,900 yuan. Chinese sales over the past 12 months came to 7,694 cars.
