The Skoda Karoq (Chinese name 柯珞克, pinyin kē luò kè) is a compact urban C-segment crossover on the German VW MQB A1 platform, assembled in the PRC by the SAIC-Volkswagen joint venture. It is a practical "family" SUV with a roomy cabin and a large trunk; the Chinese version is lengthened by 50 mm in body and wheelbase relative to the European one (4432 mm length, 2688 mm wheelbase), which gives more room in the back. In 2021-2023 a single 280TSI engine was offered on the Chinese market - a 1.4-liter EA211 turbo engine rated at 110 kW (150 hp), 250 Nm, paired with a 7-speed "dry" DSG dual-clutch and front-wheel drive; at the rear is a semi-independent torsion beam, and the declared combined consumption is about 5.9 L/100 km (工信部/NEDC). Important: this is the pre-facelift first generation, externally different from the global 2021 Karoq facelift (different grille and front bumper), which did not come to the PRC. Weak points are the "dry" DSG, sensitive to city traffic jams, and the absence of all-wheel drive (FWD only). Since the 150 hp power is below the 160 hp threshold, the car passes the Russian reduced recycling-fee rate when imported by a private individual "for personal use" (final calculation in our calculator with a disclaimer).
