The Skoda Kamiq (柯米克) is a subcompact urban B-class crossover from the SAIC Volkswagen joint venture, produced only for the Chinese market. The Kamiq GT (柯米克GT) version features a coupe-like silhouette with a sloping roof, two-tone paint and a sportier appearance, whereas the standard Kamiq is a practical five-seat family crossover, slightly shorter (4390 mm versus 4409 mm for the GT). The engine range is modest: a naturally aspirated 1.5L MPI at 109-112 hp (6-speed automatic, in some years a manual) and a 1.2T TSI "230TSI" turbo engine at 116 hp (200 Nm) with a 7-speed "dry" DSG dual-clutch; drive is front-wheel only. The model is aimed at the budget buyer who values the German origin of the VW Group units and low consumption (about 6 L/100 km). For the Russian market the key plus is that all versions have no more than 116 hp, which is noticeably below the 160 hp threshold, so the Kamiq and Kamiq GT are guaranteed to pass the reduced recycling-fee rate for a private individual importing "for personal use." The downsides are weak performance, a plain interior, the front-wheel-drive layout and the niche nature of parts for the CN specification (the model has been discontinued in China).
