The Mercedes-Benz C-Class (奔驰C级) is a premium sedan in the compact-premium segment (C/D-class), which in China was built by 北京奔驰 (Beijing-Benz, BBAC) in the long-wheelbase 'L' version: the wheelbase is extended to 2920 mm versus 2840 mm on the global sedan, giving noticeably more rear-passenger space — the car is aimed at those who value the brand's prestige and rear-seat comfort. Our stock example is the 2020款 C 200 L: a 1.5-litre M264 turbo engine (115 kW / 156 hp / 250 Nm), a 9-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic and Mercedes' traditional rear-wheel drive; importantly, the base C 200 L specifically comes WITHOUT the 48-volt EQ Boost system — that is fitted to the more powerful C 260 L (184 hp). The factory output of the C 200 L is confirmed by the data plate (铭牌) — 156 hp — and this is the key point for Russia: since the engine output does not exceed 160 hp, the car qualifies for the reduced recycling-fee rate for an individual importing for personal use (with a margin of just 4 hp). More powerful versions of the same body — the C 260 L (184 hp) and C 300 L (258 hp) — no longer qualify. Chinese specifics include the extended body (4784 mm long), MBUX equipment and the 动感型运动版 / 时尚型 / 时尚型运动版 trims; direct rivals are the long-wheelbase BMW 3 Series Li and Audi A4L.
