Leapmotor Lafa5

The Lafa5 is the compact sedan of Leapmotor, a battery-electric car sold on the Chinese domestic market, where 41,571 units of the series changed hands over the past 12 months.

Seven versions make up the range, separated above all by output: 132 to 180 kW, or 179 to 245 hp. The motor sits at the rear and turns the rear wheels through a single-speed reduction gear, so there is no gear shifting in the usual sense. The 58.84 kW mark is cleared by the entire line — even the least powerful version is well beyond 80 hp.

No other kind of powertrain is offered in the series: every version draws on the battery alone. Capacity ranges from 56.2 to 67.1 kWh and the quoted driving range from 500 to 605 km.

Body dimensions shift slightly from version to version: 4430 to 4490 mm long and 1510 to 1520 mm tall, with width fixed at 1880 mm and a wheelbase of 2735 mm; the cabin seats 5. The spread is small enough that picking a version is a question of output and battery rather than size. Factory prices span 97,800 to 129,800 yuan, and the series has been in production since 2026.
