Hongqi HQ9 PHEV

The Hongqi HQ9 PHEV is a large minivan with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain and all-wheel drive, built for the Chinese market. The cabin is a seven-seater and the catalogue lists no other layout.

The proportions are big even by minivan standards: 5,222 mm long, 2,005 mm wide and 1,935 mm tall, on a 3,200 mm wheelbase. One body covers the whole range, and the figures do not change from version to version.

The combustion engine is a 2.0-litre unit rated at 120 kW (163 hp), the same in every version. The traction battery is what changes, from 20.1 to 39.5 kWh, and the claimed electric range is quoted at 220 km.

Against the 117.68 kW (160 hp) mark the series lies wholly above the line: all 7 catalogue versions clear it, none falls below. The emission rating is China 6, and production has been running since 2024.

The price spread is wide, from 338,800 to 538,800 yuan, even though the engine is the same in every version and the body does not change. Sales in China came to 3,016 cars over the past 12 months.
