The Bao 5 is a mid-size Fangchengbao crossover built for the Chinese domestic market since 2023. Every version in the range is a plug-in hybrid, pairing a combustion engine with a battery that can be charged from the mains.
A single engine covers all 14 versions: 143 kW, or 194 hp, from 1497 cc, meeting the China 6 emission standard and driving through a CVT, a transmission with no fixed ratios, with all-wheel drive the only layout offered. That places the whole line-up above the 117.68 kW mark.
What differs is the electric side. Batteries run from 31.8 to 47.8 kWh and quoted range from 125 to 210 km, and with the engine and the drive layout fixed, this is the real choice inside the series.
The body is tall and barely changes: length between 4,880 and 4,890 mm, width 1,970 mm, height 1,920 mm, wheelbase 2,800 mm, with seating for 5.
Factory prices for the 14 versions run from 239,800 to 329,800 yuan. With one engine and one drive layout across the range, the gap between the cheapest and the dearest version is not a gap in output. Sales in China over the past 12 months came to 36,821 cars.
