BYD Sealion 05 DM-i海狮05 DM-i

The Sealion 05 DM-i is a compact-class BYD crossover with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, built for the Chinese domestic market. It has been in production since 2025.

One combustion engine serves the whole range: 1,498 cc and 74 kW, or 101 hp. It drives the front wheels through a CVT, and no other layout is offered. The emission standard is China-6.

Versions differ on the electric side instead. Battery capacity is quoted from 12.9 to 34.3 kWh and electric range from 75 to 305 km, so the gap between the entry car and the top one is considerable even though their engines are identical. Battery size, not engine choice, is what a buyer picks between here.

The body varies as well: length from 4,620 to 4,726 mm, width from 1,860 to 1,880 mm, height from 1,630 to 1,720 mm and wheelbase from 2,712 to 2,770 mm. Every version seats 5.

Factory prices for the 15 versions run from 97,900 to 142,800 yuan, and all 15 stay below the 117.68 kW threshold, equal to 160 hp. Chinese sales over the past 12 months came to 36,745 cars.
