BMW i5

The BMW i5 is an executive-class electric sedan that BMW Brilliance has been building for the Chinese market since 2024. Over the past 12 months 5,028 of them were sold in China.

The whole series is electric; no version carries an internal combustion engine. Of the 16 versions on the price list, the first split is the driven axle: some cars are rear-wheel drive with the motor at the back, others are all-wheel drive with two electric motors. Neither group has a stepped gearbox — a single-speed reduction gear does the job.

Output covers a wide band. The entry cars are rated at 200 kW, or 272 hp, the strongest at 385 kW, which works out to 523 hp. Battery capacity runs from 79.1 to 97 kWh, and the claimed range is quoted between 536 and 713 km.

One body serves the whole series: 5,175 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, 1,520 mm tall, wheelbase 3,105 mm. Seating is for 5.

Factory prices run from 368,000 to 539,900 yuan. In output terms the entire line sits above the 58.84 kW mark, with no version below it.
