The BAIC Off-Road BJ40 is a compact crossover for the Chinese market with all-wheel drive, in production since 2014. It is offered in 50 versions priced from 139,800 to 272,900 yuan.
The BJ40 lineup uses internal combustion engines producing from 120 to 180 kW (163 to 245 hp) with displacement ranging from 1967 to 2290 cc. Five engines are offered: 4F20TC13, 4F20TC20, B237R, HY4C20B and HY4C20C. Transmissions are automatic only, with 6 or 8 speeds, and every version drives all four wheels.
The body comes in two size ranges: length from 4350 to 4793 mm, width from 1925 to 2030 mm, height from 1865 to 1950 mm, and wheelbase from 2465 to 2760 mm. The cabin seats 4 or 5 people. The model meets the China-6 emission standard.
All 50 versions exceed the 117.68 kW threshold, with none falling below it. Over the past 12 months, 28,821 units were sold on the Chinese market.
