BAIC New Energy EU

The EU is a sedan from the Chinese brand BAIC New Energy, sold on the domestic market. The series has long been out of production, yet cars carrying the name still turn up in Chinese sales figures.

The car sits in the compact class, the lower of the mainstream passenger rungs. Cars of this size are bought for everyday city use: easier to park, lighter and cheaper to keep than a mid-size sedan.

The body is a three-box sedan — engine bay, cabin and a separate luggage compartment with its own lid. Unlike a hatchback, the boot is closed off from the cabin rather than sharing the same space.

The EU was built from 2016 to 2018, and no later cars carried the name, so the whole series belongs to one short stretch.

Sales in China over the past 12 months came to 7,371 cars.
