Volkswagen ID.ERA 9X

The ID.ERA 9X is a full-size SUV that SAIC-VW builds for the Chinese domestic market: drive is electric, while the combustion engine works as a range extender. Sales in China over the past 12 months came to 12,392 cars.

Output runs from 370 to 380 kW, or 503 to 517 hp. Drive is all-wheel drive only, with two electric motors, and there is no conventional gearbox: a single-speed reduction gear passes the torque along. The combustion engine displaces 1,498 cc, around 1.5 litres, and meets the China 6 standard.

Traction battery capacity runs from 51.1 to 65.2 kWh, and quoted range from 347 to 406 km.

The car is large in every direction: 5,207 mm long, 1,997 mm wide and 1,810 mm tall, on a wheelbase of 3,070 mm. Seating is for 6. Both the length and the wheelbase put the series at the top of its class, and the roof is high enough that occupants step in rather than drop down.

Factory prices for the 3 versions run from 309,800 to 359,800 yuan, and the series has been built since 2026. Against the 58.84 kW mark, that is 80 hp, all 3 versions sit above the line.
