The Qin New Energy is a compact BYD sedan built for the Chinese domestic market and offered with electric drive only, with no combustion engine anywhere in the range. It has been in production since 2014.
Every version shares the same drivetrain: a 100 kW motor, equivalent to 136 hp, working through a single-speed reduction gear rather than a conventional gearbox. A drive like that has no gear steps at all — the motor turns the wheels through one fixed ratio. What changes from one version to the next is therefore the battery, quoted between 47.5 and 53.6 kWh, and the stated driving range, which runs from 405 to 450 km.
The body is common to the whole line and its dimensions do not vary: 4,675 mm long, 1,770 mm wide and 1,500 mm tall, on a 2,670 mm wheelbase. Every version seats 5.
The factory price list holds 7 versions inside a narrow band, from 155,800 to 169,800 yuan. With identical output and one body shell, battery size and range are what separate the cheaper cars from the dearer ones. Chinese sales over the past 12 months came to 5,129 cars.
